After Dinner Munchies

Although I’m cleansing, the man is not.

He paces from living room to kitchen every night after dinner constantly opening and closing the fridge door.  When no dessert is available, he claims that he’s glad and water is good.

Uh huh.

Water is not good and he’s not glad.

The man loves his desserts….he came to the right place.

Baked Donuts

Adapted: Clean eating recipes

1 cup whole wheat flour

1 cup white flour

3 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

4 eggs

2 tbsp olive oil

1/2 cup honey mixed with 2 tbsp brown sugar

2 tbsp milk (any milk)

Toppings

1/2 cup melted chocolate macaroons

coloured sprinkles

1 tsp cinnamon mixed with 1/4 cup white sugar

Directions

Mix all of you wet and stir well.   Add dry and mix until there are no lumps.

Pour all the batter into a large Ziploc and cut off the corner end…or carefully spoon mixture into donut pan.

Bake at 375 F for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.

Remove and let cool just a bit while you melt the chocolate in the microwave.    Dip donuts into the  chocolate and sprinkle with your favourite colours or place warm donuts into a Ziploc containing sugar and cinnamon and shake well.

Let your donuts cool on parchment paper because they stick to the cooling racks.

I won’t try to sell these as original deep-fried donuts, but……they’re so good that the kids won’t even notice.

I’m clearly a kitchen ‘stuff’ junkie.  I recently discovered Crate and Barrel.

I’m in love.  Donut pans, butterfly pans, pretty plates and glass cutlery….I’m in love.

What’s your favourite kitchen gadget?

OMG I love them! I need a pan! How can you make these and not eat them? I would eat them until they were all gone or I was sick!

Aren’t they cute?? I searched for these pans everywhere which is how I ended up in Crate and Barrel. Cakes and stuff do nothing for me. Bread or date squares….that’s a different story. You know what else? my cravings are crazy gone the last few days. Those little white snax seem to be doing it.

Too funny. Water is good. It is but only if you have 3 dozen cookies to go with it.
My favorit kitchen gadget is the Vita Mixer.
