Autumn Black Bean Soup
It’s officially fall in Australia so the weather is thankfully cooling off. Happily, most of my sweating is from a good workout and not just from sitting and breathing. I seem to have my energy back as well so I’m trying a new workout. Have you ever heard of The Vibration workout?
The Vibration Machine has been designed to produce therapeutic vibrations from the feet up through your entire body. The vibration plate causes very rapid muscle contractions thirty to fifty times per second that work your muscles continuously. These contractions not only build muscle and bone density, but improve flexibility, burn fat, increase metabolism, improve circulation, improve cellular oxygen and nutrient delivery which slows the degenerative/ageing process!
I love a fad and I think any things worth a try even though late at night I hear “you’re a sucker” being whispered in my ear. My workouts are getting boring and I need a change. 3 times a week (12 sessions of 30 min) in between running and weights and I’ll let you know what if any benefits there are.
As promised yesterday, here is just one way to enjoy yesterdays spiced barley.
1/2 cup spiced barley mixed with 1/4 cup plain yogurt, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 2 tbsp goji berries and stevia to sweeten. I topped it with some blueberries and a dribble of home-made tahini. So good and barley is very filling .
Now on to comfort food. Black bean soup and chilli is the first thing I make when the days get cooler. It also means plenty of left overs for no cook Friday nights and frozen portions for another dinner.
Don’t forget the best Pumpkin Coconut Cornbread you’ve ever eaten!
What’s the craziest exercise fad you’ve tried?
