My dining out rant

January 23, 2011

Steve and I don’t eat out often. In fact, living in Sydney we eat out rarely. One of the reasons being that I’m not familiar with where to go and because we’re both fairly picky, we just hate to take the chance of a lousy meal.    Another reason….dinner out is expensive.  Eating out is not cheap in general but Sydney is outrageous!    Even worse than Sydney?  A hotel anywhere near Sydney.

One night after dinner Steve and I went back to the hotel and had a nightcap in their lounge (which was super cute by the way).

I ordered Mr. Sweet tooth a plate of cookies for dessert.

I had to take picture of the menu so you wouldn’t think I was exaggerating!   2 scones….$19.50.   Have you ever paid $15 for a croissant perhaps?    How bout those 6 delicious homemade cookies I paid $12 for?

I kid you not.

I paid $12 for 6 cookies sliced from this here Pillsbury cookie dough.  Homemade my a__!

Come on people.   2000% profit is like…..robbery!

Ok I’m done.  It all just makes me settle into my kitchen comfortably knowing that I’m not contributing to the over priced, over processed, sugar and fat laden, profit driven restaurant industry.

Now, go make these Chocolate chip protein cookies.

They taste good, they’re healthy and they cost about $.40 each.

How often do you dine out?

There is nothing i enjoy more than eating out. In fact, I ate out almost two meals a day for the last month. I’m back, please call me!

Actually I normally would not do that but Steve was chomping at the bit for something and I honestly thought he would get 6 either big cookies or really really good! Not
