Day 3 year 2011

It was me against coffee this morning.

Me won!

It was hard.

I love caffeine.

9 a.m.                big mug of green tea with 1/2 a lemon

10:30 a.m.       1 frozen banana, 1 container blueberries, 2 slices honeydew melon, 1/2 head dark green bib lettuce, 1/2 small cucumber, 1 tsp glutamine, 1 tsp Spirulina, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp psyllium, ice and some water

Blend until smooth

After I took the picture, I changed my mind and replaced the orange with a banana since I planned to go to the gym.

This made a yummy shake!

3 p.m.          large mug of green tea with 1/2 a lemon

3:15 p.m.   1 container blueberries, 1/2 cup 1% cottage cheese, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 2 tbsp Kabocha butter.

I ran almost 4 km, biked 10 minutes then did some lower back and abs.   Today is 30 degrees celsius in Sydney and it may have been 35 degrees in my gym 😦   I don’t think I’ve ever sweat so much and am just now starting to cool down (2 hours later).

I really needed some protein (cottage cheese) for tired muscles and carbs (blueberries) for glycogen replacement after that workout and I knew that a veggie shake just wasn’t going to cut it today.

I’m starting to feel a definite decrease in my cravings for both sugar and carbs.  By late afternoon I’m usually thinking of bread, oats and anything else that is a carbohydrate but in regulating my sugar intake with nothing but fruit and veggies along with much more liquid than normal, I believe I am controlling my insulin levels.

You know, I completely forgot today was New years eve?

Not that we had big plans but a friend of Steve’s did stop over and I had 2 glasses of red wine.   Along with a bowl of bran buds and goji berries.

I know.  I’m outta control.

The year came in with a bang!

Not in my house but somewhere I’m sure.

Here’s to  good health and happiness!

I’m loving your cleanse blogs. I’m not actually doing it with you, just reading along for entertainment purposes, but you are inspiring me to try something similar this spring/summer when fruits/veggies are actually in season here.

I had a caprese salad yesterday in Pittsburgh and DAMN – what a let down. I almost broke a tooth on the hard as hell tomato. 😦

    Happy New Year!

Well I’m glad you’re enjoying my suffering 🙂 You don’t need to wait until spring at all. I’m using frozen berries right now (fresh are too expensive). You can use winter oranges, frozen spinach, any lettuce at all. Actually I’m really missing kale and brussel sprouts the most.
I was never a really big believer in cleansing but I’m definitely feeling a shift in daily habits. I think it’s just a good way to shake things up when you get into a rut.
Happy New year to you too!
