Day 2

December 30, 2010

I am a soldier!  I will carry on.

9 a.m.                  large mug of green tea with 1/2 a lemon

10:30 a.m.        1 small orange, 1 frozen banana, 1 mango, 1/2 head of dark bib lettuce, 1 tsp glutamine, 1 tsp Spirulina, 1 tbsp chia seeds, ice cubes and a bit of water

Different fruit but it looked exactly like yesterdays!   I liked it and it was definitely more filling then yesterdays because of the banana.  It was perfect for a 3 km run, 15 minutes on the exercise bike and shoulders.

Since I had a few errands to run after the gym, I chomped on an english cucumber and a bottle of water before I could get home.  I also made a trip to the market today and picked up some beets.

3 p.m.        1 small-medium beet peeled, 4 strawberries, all the beet leaves, 1 inch piece of ginger, 3/4 of a lemon (pulp and all), ice and water.

Blend very well and take a sip.

Gag a little and then add 1 package of stevia.  Take another sip.

Do your best to drink about 1/3 of this disgusting combination and then happily sadly pour it all down the sink.

Next time, no less beets, more fruit.

did you know: Beets are loaded with vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and C.  The greens have a higher content of iron compared to spinach.  They are also an excellent source of calcium, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, sodium and iron.

I don’t care.

That was gross.

7 p.m.     Mushroom soup

3 – 4 cups mushrooms (any kind but I used button)

1 onion

2 hot peppers (optional)

1 cup fresh parsley

3 cloves garlic

1 handful fresh spinach

1 cup stock (any kind)

1 tsp each cumin, coriander, paprika

1/4 cup brewers yeast

The juice of 1 lemon

Place everything into the blender and blend until smooth.  Microwave until warm.  You could chop up some fresh mushrooms to mix in.

I wasn’t sure how this would turn out but it was really good and really easy to make.  You literally throw everything into your blender and you’re done!   This made 2 big servings so I’m good for lunch tomorrow.

Today was easy.  The trick is to stay busy because I realize more than anything else that boredom leads to snacking.  Working out is also a definite craving buster.

I made this one last night. Not bad. Looks like hell but taste good. I tried the smoothie with the spinach also. Hmm not sure about that one. Spinach in my drink does not go down really well.
However I think its mind over matter. Tasted ok.

Yeah, it seems like a lot of what I eat looks like baby poop lately 🙂
Try adding some vanilla protein powder to our shake. I never taste the greens when I do that or a frozen banana.
