Passion fruit and pulled muscles
The couple that rented our house before us planted a Passion fruit vine next to a large wall behind us. First I noticed these buds.
I’ve watched it unsure of how a passion fruit grows.
The next morning I was pleasantly surprised to see this little gorgeous flower open. They close again in the evening.
Passion fruit are plentiful during their season in Australia and used in dessert sauces, on top of Pavlovas and added into yogurt and some baked goods. They are crunchy like pomegranate seeds and a bit sour and sweet like guavas. They have a hard shell and each one only produces about 2 tablespoons of fruit.
The girls tell me that their friends at school bring passion fruits sliced and eat them with a spoon for snack. I like it in a bowl of plain yogurt or mixed with pepper jelly for chicken or fish.
I really hope my vine produces fruit this summer!
Besides passion fruit…..I am once again down for the count. For the second time this month while running on the treadmill, I have pulled a calf muscle. First the left and now the right. My very sweet Jojo has volunteered to make dinner tonight while I sulk at the computer and ice it. The left one took 5 days before I stopped limping.
Don’t you just want to throw things and scream like a 2 yr old sometimes?
