We decided to take advantage of the fact that we’re only a 3 hour drive to Calgary so why not check out the Stampede while we are in Edmonton. I had been to the Stampede pre children but it was a quick visit and we weren’t very interested in family activities then, we did however do some line dancing at a cowboy bar which was a lot of fun. This time we took the girls to the fairgrounds and joined what seemed like most of Calgary’s population! While the girls did the rides, Steve and I made our way to the food building since I was hoping it might resemble Toronto’s exhibition which offers everything from curries to Thai but unfortunately it was just the standard fast food variety like pogo’s and mini donuts. Steve did however find his favorite corn on the cob stand which we must hunt down at every theme park ever attended.
After only 4 rides the girls were ready to go and a little worse for wear. It seems The Gravitron combined with a few french fries did a number on their bellies! I thought it might be a good idea to get some real food at the restaurant Milestones attached to our Hotel. This was one of my favorite restaurants 15 years ago when we lived in Vancouver and only recently they’ve branched out to Eastern Canada. I ordered the seafood salad which included grilled salmon and shrimp. It was delicious and had all my favorite salad additions like avocado, papaya and roasted tomatoes.
