Hope you all had a great Canada day weekend and Happy July 4th! Looks like summer may be done here in Edmonton with a high of 11 degrees so far today! Oh well, it’s a good day for getting things done. The man and I try to have date night once a week now that the girls can stay alone for a while and I try to pick a different restaurant each time (especially when we’re in a different city). This Saturday we chose a pub close to home and kept it simple. Brewsters is a casual restaurant/bar with a typical sports bar feel to it. As its name would imply, they brew their own beer. I ordered a small plate of shrimp tempura to start which definitely satisfied my craving for something greasy! The shrimp were cut in half and then thickly battered, so much that I had to search for them. I ended up taking most of the tempura off. For my entrée I stuck with a less greasy salad. Sadly they had no blue cheese dressing (a pub with no blue cheese!) so instead I had beer mustard which lacked the beer and I suspect was just a dijonnaise. For my salad, the combination of green beans, boiled eggs, baby potatoes along with mesclun and candied pecans tasted as wrong as it sounds.
