About Me
This is the hardest part…
What about me? And how can I make myself sound interesting?
I can talk endlessly and, at times, be very informative about food, recipes and nutrition but the subject of me is difficult!
My interest in cooking really began when my first daughter began to eat solids and I had a strange fear of letting someone else feed her, like the Gerber people or those Heinz guys. Not that I have anything against these companies but why should I let them decide what my baby would eat? Rational? Probably not but I was determined and so it began.
I made combos like white fish and sweet potatoes (pureed of course!), tofu and beets which was like giving her a can of red paint to play with and then there was the kidney bean and fiddlehead combo – always a winner! Now my daughters are 12 and 14 and luckily survived it all. Throughout this time we travelled with my husbands job quite a bit and with each new city or country came a new culture for me to learn and adapt to. So I did it through food and cooking. I’m also a bit of fitness buff and a bit obsessive about anything that has to do with nutrition.
I do some personal training as well as nutrition coaching but what I would really like to do when I grow up is open a cute little coffee shop and sell my own baked goods (of the healthier variety). But for now, I write this blog and finally start writing down recipes because who knows? Maybe I will be selling them to you one day in my cafe.

hey, that’s my dream!
We should do it together!
in a perfect world…yeah that would be awsome!
When we get old and Steve and Gary aren’t around anymore, we can get a little 2 bedroom apartments, a few cats and open a cafe. Maybe the girls will visit us once in a while and mom will be around 100 and can do the baking in the back room. She can do our laundry too and maybe even iron our pajamas!
that was a really depressing look into my future…
What??? you don’t want to live with me and mom and a few kitties when we’re hitting 80?
Nice. Hoepfully I won’t be around when either of you reach 80.
Ahh but I think you will!
If you don’t adopt me, can I live next door? LOL I hope your dreams do come true – coffee shop and maybe NOT your living together. Thank you for your blog, just discovered your site via the link in your comment on Joy the Baker’s current page.
Thanks Claudette! I could use a few more mouths to feed in my house considering how much I cook
Thanks for stopping by.
What a delightful bio. My children are all grown, but I fed them the same way. They turned out healthy and strong and are now moms feeding their kids from scratch too. It is a pleasure to find your blog.
Thank you! You made my day. I haven’t been blogging for a few months now but friendly comments like yours make me rethink it.
