Molasses Chocolate Chip Cookies

The teenagers have officially completed grades 7 & 8 as of today.  To celebrate this for the 2nd time since leaving Edmonton, we sat through 2 hours and 45 minutes of speeches and awards.

Painful.

Today is their end of school picnic and they wanted to bring treats.   Great!  I could put together a fruit plate or maybe veggies and dip!

They didn’t think I was funny one bit.  Then can I at least bake cookies instead of store-bought?

Ok…but only if you swear not to make them healthy!

Fine.  I can do that.

These cookies come from joy the Baker.  She has a food blog with some of the most beautiful pictures I’ve seen not to mention fantastic sounding recipes.  I’ve wanted to try one for a while so this was my chance.

Chewy Molasses Chocolate Chip Cookies

The only thing I changed was the flour.  I had no bread flour so I added an extra 1/4 cup all-purpose white flour.  I also did half white and half chocolate chips.

I was SO glad these cookies left my house this morning.   For my sake and this guys…

My girlfriends are having the annual Christmas cookie swap this week which I’m sad to miss. But sadder for them cause I would have made these.
